It's Not Summer Without You By: Jenny Han

Review By:Serina Passaretti

This Book It's Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han is very intense about feelings for your family and close friends. Some of the protagonists are "Belly", Conrad, Jeremiah, Susannah, and Steven. Susannah is Jeremiah and Conrads mother who sadly gets cancer and dies. Also Steven and "Belly" are brother and sister. This story is set at a place called "Cousins Beach" where Susannah, Jeremiah, and Conrad live.

I really liked this book because it has a huge theme of love and passion. I also really liked it because I connect with the character "Belly" this is because in the book she has sort of a "thing" for Conrad and what happens is they go out and Conrad takes "Belly" to prom but TOTALLY plays her for a fool and he makes it absolutely horrible for her. She then gets into a fight with him and they don't talk, I relate to it because something similar happened to me. But I don't want to give too much away. This book is very good to read and I recommend it if you like love and sad stories. I have read this book twice and I may read it again but it really is a GREAT book to read.

Ten Things I Hate About Me by Randa Abdel-Fatah

Review by Marissa D

Have you ever really thought about what goes on in other countries? Well neither did I until I read this book, "Ten Things I Hate About Me".  The country is Australia and in this book it displays racist acts and the struggle of a Lebanese-Muslim girl named Jamilah.  Her struggles include her class mates not knowing her true background and religion and her fear of her friends knowing.  As her high school years go by she realizes that keeping her secret is becoming harder and harder and telling her secret now would be very difficult for her.  However as the days go on she is more determined to share her background, but she is very aware of how racist her classmates can be and that's what is holding her back.

I really liked this book because Jamilah's struggles and her strength to listen to racist remarks from friends is very over powering.  Also she is constantly struggleing to find the streangth to show who she really is. This book helped me realize that if you are hidding background information, it would make you feel better if everyone found out insead of hidding it even longer.  Eventhough its hard to tell a secret about your background especially if you've been hidding it for a while, you should just tell your friends and slowly work your way up to other classmates.

Frankenstein Retold from the Mary Shelley orignal

Review by: Kelly Mc-B.
When Victor Frankenstein creates a man out of dead body parts everything starts to turn out wrong. When the man gets loose, Frankenstein's younger brother disappears, his maid is framed for murder, and people start mysteriously dieing. When Frankenstein is on his way from England to Germany his mother gets sick. Before she dies she wants to see Frankenstein and his adopted sister get married but Frankenstein and his family won't be the only ones at the wedding. This man is turning out to be a monster.

If your into fiction or books about monsters this is the book for you. I liked this book because it is about a monster that gets loose and starts trouble. There are a lot of action parts like when Victor Frankenstein hunts the monster and has a lot of close calls. Also there are a lot of exciting and surprising parts.

THE EDGE of the WORLD by Kevin J. Anderson

                                      Rating: ***** (5/5)
593 pages (includes glossary, extras and preview of second book)
War. Exploration of unknown lands. These are some words that describe this book. The story takes place in another world-Terra Icognita. 2 nations are fighting a war, to dominate the known and the unknown world. Men are put on boats to go and brave the unknown waters across the edge of the map, a blank space, marked "Here be Monsters".

I liked the book because it reminds me of our world, filled with war and at one point in time, exploration. The book reminds me of how wars a fought for the silliest and strangest reasons. It also reminds me of how exploration was a way of life and the people were brave enough to do it. The book, overall, in my mind is a five star book. I recommend it only to serious readers though, as it is almost 600 pages.

I Am Number 4 by pittacus lore

reviewed by: Brian Ellis
pages:440
This book starts when Number four gets his 3rd scar. He is from another planet. He was sent down here with a guardian because his planet is in war. The other planet is planning on destroying their planet. But first they got to kill all the numbers. It is numbers 1-9. Numbers 1-3 are dead meaning hes next. On his journey he meets some allies to hold off the enemies and to protect the earth.
The main character that i would most likely have as a friend would be number 4. I chose number 4 because he could protect me if I ever get bullied at school. He is also nice, smart, and loves a dog or is it a dog? Number 4 is thoughtful and overprotective of his friends and will get angry if someone pranks them. That is why i would want to be friends with Number 4 the most.
My personal reaction to the book at the beginning was that this was going to be very interesting book. it was when number 4 started glowing in the water when i realized it was going to be interesting. i was really impressed by how in tensing the book was. i like how much action the book had and and how there was a huge twist at the ending. The book was Drama, and Action. That is why i like the book

This book is about a boy named Hugo Cabret. He lives in a train station with his uncle after his dad died. His uncle disappears and he is left with his uncle’s job, the stuff in their room and automata his dad found in a museum. Now Hugo is trying to put it back together with the parts from toys in the toy stall at the train station. When he, finishes a secret is revealed that reveals more secrets.

I would most like to be friends with Hugo. I would most like to be friends with him because he is smart, good with clock woks and could probably teach me some stuff about it. He also is determined to get things done so he would be a good person to do things with.

I really liked the book. I liked how it wasn’t all words that there were pictures that made it easier to read it and made it more enjoyable. I also liked the characters in it they were actually really interesting. I also liked it because it kept making me want to read it was so good.

I would say it was just right. It wasn’t too hard but I was still able to fly through it. That is The Invention of Hugo Cabret for ya.

The book pink is about a girl who is goth and she wants to be really girlie. It is hard to be girlie in her house because her parents and girlfriend think that wearing pink and skirts that she is making herself an object. So she decides to change schools so she can be girlie and try out for the musical. When she doesn't get a part in the play she decides to join stage crew. She is trying to balance three worlds goth, girlie, and stage crew freak. She has to wait until she knows who she is.

If i had to pick anyone to be friends with i would pick the stage crew. i would pick them because they seem nice, and welcoming. Their not afraid to be themselves, and don't care what people think of them. Also the popular kids are to only worried about themselves, they want everyone to be the same, and if their different then their considered freaks.

I like this book because it always made you think she was going to chose one group of friends, i also like how she was included into three social group. I also like how it was suspenseful and always made me want to keep reading.

The book Sweet Little Lies is about a girl named Jane Roberts and how one night a guy offers her and her best friend Scarlett Harp a job as co. hosts on a TV. show L.A. Candy. Then there is a picture of Jane cheating on her boyfriend Jesse with Jesse's best friend Brandan. And now Americas sweet heart is now a rebel and the story is about finding out who took the picture and how to get people to forget about it.

If i had to pick one person from this story to be my friend i would pick Scarlett because Scarlett was doing whatever she can to fix this while Jane is betraying her with her new friend Madison. And during the whole book Scarlett is there for Jane no matter what happened.

Personally i really liked this book and i thought it was one of the best nooks i have probably ever read. i recommend it to everyone.

This book was "Challenging in a good way".

Summer Ball by Mike Lupica

Review by: Kyle F                                                                           Danny Walker, son of Richie Walker, gets told he is going to a basketball camp over the summer.  It is called Right Way, and only elite players get to go from all over the country, so Danny needs to step up his game.  Danny is very short for his age, so he is surprised when he sees players much taller than him.  Danny also meets his rival, Rasheed, who was a star player in the travel team championship who got called for a foul that ended the game.  This camp changes Danny and the way he plays.  College players and coaches help teach Danny even more about the game of basketball, although he gets told that he is more suitable for soccer than basketball, because of his height.  This book is full of very surprising events.
I would most likely want Danny Walker to be my friend because he is nice most of the time.  He also stands up for himself and others, like when Lamar was picking on him and Zach Fox, a 12 year old.  He stood up for both of them, however this did get them all suspended for two games.  I'm glad he fought for what he thought was right.  Danny is also athletic, kind of like me, a little bit.  So we both have something partially in common.  Danny is nice to everyone, especially Tess, the only time he feels mad and mean is when someone starts picking on him or tells him that he can't do something.  That's why I'd like to be friends with Danny Walker.
I liked the book a lot because it was a sports book.  The whole entire book was about basketball, and I play basketball, so I enjoyed the book.  Also, I liked it because in some parts of the book, near the ending of games, I started to get anxious because I wanted to know that the final result was going to be.  This book was one of those books where you HAD to keep reading.  I didn't want to stop when I was reading it, in facts, I read 120 pages of this book in one day.  I enjoyed this book and I think it's one of the best books I've read.
This book was just right because I understood all of it, however, there were some parts I didn't quite get at first, but I started to understand them after reading on in the book.  This was a great book.

When shortstop Hutch is moved to second base on his team to make room for the more talented, but arrogant Darryl, he takes one for the team. But, when he sees his own father, who never seems to have any time for or intrest in him, coaching Darryl, he can't handle it, and endangers both of what's left of his relationship with his dad, and his team's chances in the championship.

I think that the main topic of this book is all about jealousy that not only is expresses by Hutch, but also by Darryl. It seems like whenever Hutch hit a home run or even when he was made the captain of the team, Darryl was jealous. I think that this taught me that in life, you arn't always going to get all of the glory.

In the end, I really enjoyed this book. I thought this book was exciting, suspenseful, and also action packed. I also found this book kind of shocking because when Hutch went to practice, and Darryl was already their practicing with his dad, I was kind of shocked.

I found this book to be at a perfect reading level for me

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid The Ugly Truth By Jeff Kinney

The book starts with how Greg is doing after his fight with Rowley. Greg finds out that Rowley's parents have replaced Greg with a guy called "cool Brian." Greg tries to be more popular at school by parading around his schoolbook that was previously owned by the most popular kid at school, Jordan Jury, and posted edited pictures of himself online. Greg then tries put for a commercial contest, in which he loses partially because of his age. Greg realizes that he is discriminated against, often, and wishes he was the center of the attention again as he was when he was younger. I would be a friend with Greg, because he likes being lazy, and I'm a lazy person. One example of him being lazy is when its nice out all he wants to do is sit inside watching tv, or playing video games. I like this book because its funny and its easy to read. Also I like this book is because its not to short and it has enough pictures to get me to finish it.

Elsewhere by, Gabrielle Zevin

Book: Elsewhere                                               Reviewed by, Kareem A
Author: Gabrielle Zevin

Ever wonder what it’s like to die at a young age? Well, In Gabrielle Zevin’s novel Elsewhere, Liz is fifteen, looking forward to turning sixteen and getting her driver’s license, when everything changes. She’s riding her bike, only three months from driving a car instead of using her bike as her main mode of transportation, when she is hit by a car. She wakes up on a ship called the S.S Nile, sharing a room with a girl named Thandi. In this “dream,” as Liz thinks it is, things are a little weird. There are no modern electronic devices on the ship, and everyone with the exceptions of herself, Thandi, and Liz’s favorite singer, Curtis Jest, is over 80. Liz has to find a way to except the fact that she’s dead, and realize that a life on an island called Elsewhere is not much different from home.

I enjoyed reading this book a lot because it seemed to always have an emotion to bring out in you while you read it. Happiness, sadness, and even anger were the main emotions in the book that I felt could happen with its powerful words and importance to a teenage child. This book was nothing like other books because it wasn’t optimistic or pessimistic, but instead the emotions changed throughout the story. It got you attached and able to understand what it’s like to die at a young age. One example of how I was able to feel what Liz was feeling was when she first woke up on the boat and was bewildered about where she was. The emotion she went through is the feeling of being shocked, angry and sad. I would have experienced the same thing if I was in her position and that’s why I really enjoyed reading this book.

This book reminds of when I was only in elementary school and always thought about what would happen once I died. What age would I be? Would I get to see my family ever again? Where would I live? These where some of the questions I thought about and probably what others would think about too. Once I read this book it gave me an interesting idea of what the afterlife would look like allowing me to have a pretty good understanding. This book also reminds me of when my grandmother died because I was wondering if I would ever see her again, just like how Liz was wondering if she would ever see her family again. The theme this book made me realize is to live my life to the fullest because you will never know when you are going to die. For example, Liz was waiting to become 16, when all the sudden she got hit by a car and went to heaven. A different big idea that I realized, is that family might seem annoying at times, but you should always love them because you will only be with them once.

Andy assumes since Nina is not dead that Nina is Zekes intended victim.
Andy thinks that his father, Dr.Zadinski, works with the criminal behind the phone. Andy ponders about this for a couple of days about what he should do with the intended criminal. He comes up with a plan to see if he can make the him-self the victim of Zekes potential plan.
I liked this book a lot, because of the foreshadowing it gives at the beginning of the book. It says "'I just killed someone' says Zeke ' I don;t know what to do I'm standing over her body in the kitchem' 'What should I do?'" An unbelieved Andy who uses a fake name gets all the information he can out of Zeke before he tells his best friend Paul to call the police and to trace the call immediately. Ever since Andys mom died roughly a year before this incident he doesn't take death as a joke. If it was a prank call, Andy wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two,
This book made me think of the importance between life and death and the life you live in-between, and to always cherish life
life and how lucky you are in the way you live.

Hacking Harvard By Robin Wasserman

What if you could get into one of the best schools in the world? Would you risk being caught? What If you got $7,000? Clay porter took that risk. three friends named Eric, Max And Schwarz, Make a bet for $28,000 that they can get a deadbeat high school into Harvard an Ivy League college. Clay doesn't want more school but he'll do it for the money. This group of friends does not just want to hack into the Harvard computer system, they want to make it seem like Clay is the perfect student. Step one is to choose an image for Clay and make him interesting. They choose an artist who makes modern art. They chose that because no one really understands modern art, they just read the description and trust what it says. step two is to remove the file from his high school and replace them with all A's. Finally they have the Interview, they find out what the interviewer likes from his favorite recreational activity's to what kind of shirts he likes. Then comes the Letter.
I enjoyed this book because it talked about Harvard from a different point of views. It shows the flaws that the Harvard admission system have, for example there are thousands of worthy applicants but the few that get in are just as good as the others, also people use that final letter as measure of their success.

Review by: Ally M.

One of my favorite books that I read this year was, Soul Surfer by, Bethany Hamilton. This book is about a 13 year old girl who was attacked by a 14 foot long shark on her day off from school for Halloween. (Bethany is home-schooled because she is in the making of becoming a professional surfer.) Bethany lives on the coast of Kauai beach in Hawaii, and has a passion for surfing. She wants to surf all day everyday of the year. Bethany has to learn to deal with only one arm, and doing daily task such as, putting on cloths, showering, and putting her hair up in a ponytail. I really enjoyed this book for numerous reasons. This book was written by Bethany Hamilton herself, so this book was written in a way that is easy to read, and very understandable. I also liked this book because I tried surfing myself, and it was very hard. I can't imagine how hard it is to surf with only one arm. This book is a quick easy read, and I really recommend it to others.

The Cupid Chronicles by Coleen Paratore

Review by:Kelly F.

My favorite book is The Cupid Chronicles by Coleen Paratore. This book is about thirteen-year-old Willa Havisham, and her mission to save the library in her hometown of Bramble,Cape Cod. Bramble is losing its funds and can't afford to keep the library running.Willa can't stand to see the library shut down and sets up many fund raisers to keep the library running. And she ends up raising over 40,000 dollars and saves the library.Willa also wonders about her crush Joey Kenelly, and if Cupid really does exist.

I like this book because the setting is in Cape Cod. And Cape Cod is one of my favorite places in the world. Also the protagonist is my age so I can relate to her. The Cupid Chronicles makes me think about what I could do for less fortunate people, and how I can help them.

One day she finally descides to go into the woods and explore there she finds a youge 17 year old boy named jesse. Jesse has a secret but to find out what it is you have to read to find out.

This book was very well written with a lot of figurative language which made it interesting to read. The setting also interested me because it was very different from how we live now. The Tuck family reminds me of my family how we are really close and always have stories to tell and advice to give. This book really made me realize the important things in my life and how you should always appreciate what we have today.

'Please Stop Laughing At Me" By Jodue Blanco

Based upon a true story of one students endless days of being bullied by her peers. Starting from fifth grade Jodue was insulted numerous times by her classmates and physically abused being kicked, hit, spit on and her clothes taken off and grounded into the dirt and mud.
Jodue just wanted to be popular. A straight A student always trying to please her teachers and friends. She also didnt like to disobey rules. It was fifith grade and Jodue was invited to a slumber party at her friends house she was excited until they started playing spin the bottle and strip poker and her friends started taking off their clothes. Jodue felt uncomfortable and thinking she was doing the right thing she called her mom, who told her friends mom what they were doing. The abusing got worse and Jodues parents thought psychological help for her but she thought it was a waste of time, so she changed schools and even still people knew who she was and they continued to harass and beat her up.
Why I like this book so much is because Jodue goes through her whole life being bullied so as I read about that I can learn what it feels like to be physically and mentally abused, so then I wont do that to others because then they would feel like Jodue. That is why I like this book so much.

Most high school relationships always seem to end the same way, a brake up. By for 16 year old Ivy her relationship with her boy friend Tristan ends a little early. That’s because Tristan was killed in a car accident, and to make things worse for Ivy she was sitting right next to him when it happened. But after Tristan’s death Ivy’s life (which if full of new people) seems to be spiraling down. She’s even lost her faith in angels which she has believed for years. But it turns out the Tristan becomes an angel (how controversial. The only one who can see Tristan (or his angel glow) is Ivy’s little brother Phillip, who has been told never to speak of angels again.                The story starts out with a little girl her mother and father. Her father was not the nicest person to be around, he yelled and shouted. One day her mother was in a closet organizing clothes. Her father started yelling at the mother and he became aggressive towards her. The father dropped a gun on the floor. The little girl ran over and picked it up.  Then there was a noise that shocked everyone.
The protagonist is Lilly she is 14 years old and is a nice brave and strong girl. The setting is in South Carolina 1964. Lilly is trying to figure out the death of her mother when she was only a little girl. She wonders how she died and most of all the gun that went off.
I liked this book because it told a story of a young girl growing up in a hard life. Lilly the young girl and protagonist had an abusive father and she lost her mother at a young age and she still wonders how she died. It was interesting and the author uses a lot of descriptive words and metaphors.
The girl Lilly does not have a great life, she works almost every day and has a mean father and no mother. This made me think of my family and how lucky I am to have a nice loving and caring family.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson and Olympians: The Last Olympian
Rick Riordan ***** (5/5)
Reviewed by Joanna L.

Most teenagers are usually anxious for their sixteenth birthday to arrive because turning16 usually means a new car, more freedom and more popularity. Everyone… except Percy Jackson. Percy Jackson is a “troubled” soon-to-be demigod who’s getting prepared to face the words of The Great Prophecy, a prophecy speaking of the falling of a great hero. Percy and his remaining demigod allies must be ready to face the challenge of fighting an angered titan Lord and an army of vicious monsters and brainwashed demigods. Throughout the story, Percy not only has to defend Manhattan, he must also encounter the intertwined pasts of his close friend and a traitor that could very well give new meaning to the words of the Great Prophecy and the fate of the whole world.
I would recommend this book to anyone that finds Greek mythology interesting since this book is pretty much a bunch of Greek myths together with the setting being modern New York. That’s the part of the reason I really enjoyed this book, because it has many Greek myth references and yet it’s still whole other different story with its own protagonists and plot.
I would also recommend this book to anyone looking for a great adventure book or anyone is simply looking for an entertaining book to read. I love how it’s filled with adventure and tense encounters and Percy’s great sense of humor never fails to make me smile.
The author really makes the reader think about deep things besides warfare and fighting. This story made me think about how we never see the wonderful value of the things and people we have around us and how sometimes we’re too arrogant to realize that we are hurting the people we love most with our ignorance. Another thing it made me think of was the great power of promises and how a few words can really bind us to certain people.
Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Last Olympian was different from other fantasy books because it was deeper and the plot was sort of complex because so many different things were going on as the story went on, like “flashbacks” and “demigod dreams” (demigod dreams were usually dark dreams about what was happening as the dreamer slept and also about what was going to happen.) For these reasons, it really reminded me of The Odyssey because The Odyssey is a very complex epic full of flashbacks and other features that were also in the The Last Olympian

A young nine-year-old boy named Tyler Doherty is suffering from incurable brain cancer and is still confused about the loss of his father from a severe car accident. His family hasn’t been doing so well since they found out that Ty has brain cancer that cant be cured, only treated so its not as bad, and also his widowed mother has very little trust and faith in God as she wonders why He let her husband, Patrick Doherty, get “man-slaughtered” in a car accident.

The problem is that Tyler thinks that god will help his family if he repeatedly sends him letters, called letters to God. He sends him prayers inside the letters, but does he know that god cant receive these letters? This is a great book, so if you like this book review so far then it’ll be an interesting book for you to read, and you wont ever want to stop! I absolutely love this book; it’s my favorite book I’ve read in my life so far. If you are religious and like gospel stories it’s good choice for you. This book reminds me of how lucky I am to have a family always there for me and keeping me safe, also giving me the things I need, and not having to suffer from the cancers and diseases other kids and even adults do. This Book reminds me of another book that i've read before with little different stories about God and how hes helped kids through times in need, this is book is a series of many called Roman Soup for A teenage soul

When I read this book I thought about my grandmother because she died from cancer, but she wasn’t so close to God and I always told her, “ask God for help and he will supply you with what you need”. In the book before Ty"s dad passed away, he always told Ty the same thing, so this story somehow relates to my life and me also. This is an adventurous book that is sad but also exciting and hard to put down!

The book Hatchet by Gary Paulson is my favorite book I've read all year.  Hatchet is a mystery and also very interesting.  Brian (protagonist) was involved alone in the forest in Canada for about three months.  Surviving alone for that long is a very hard task.  Brian had a lot of luck and also some successes.  Brian reminds me of Meg from Kidnapped Book Three.  Meg was left alone in the woods in Virginia for about three and a half days, until the cops found her.  They were both alone and had to survive in the forest, made everything interesting and more of an mystery.  This is my favorite book.

This book is about a 15-year-old girl named Callie who got sent to residential treatment faculty for teens for cutting herself. Callie hasn’t said a word since she’s gotten there not even to her therapist. All the doctors and her family are trying to find out what causes her to do such harm to herself but because of her lack of talking they are having trouble.
I really enjoyed this book it was amazing. This book makes people think about other people and their selves it’s very interesting and once you start reading you wont finish it till the end. This book also kind of connected to my life a little because Callie has a younger brother Sam who have azma and so do I so I understood when Callie would get upset when her brother would get a azma attack.

“FAYZ. Spelled F-A-Y-Z. It stands for Fallout Ally Youth Zone. Fallout Ally, and nothing but kids.” A place without adults, no rules, no school, and all the junk food you can eat… until it runs out anyway. Sounds like a pretty good life to most kids. But for Sam Temple, living with all the strange happenings going on can be hard on for a fourteen-year-old boy. Mutations and fights for power are something to be scared of, and Sam does his best to stop it.

This book reminds me of how lucky we are to have our parents because everyone in the FAYZ loses their parents and will probably never see them again. Each page is filled with excitement, adventure, and tension. It shows how much responsibility these kids have on their shoulders with their parents gone so vividly.

Unbelievable By Sara Shepard

*****

“Unbelievable” by Sara Shepard is about four best friends hiding a secret about another girl’s death. Then all of this turn into a disaster! They got death threats, and threats from an unknown person named “A”. Everyday they worry something is going to happen to one of them. There is no way of getting out of this mess. What’s going to happen to these best friends? Read this book to find out. I liked this book because it creates suspense and makes me want to keep reading. This book reminds me of another book I read called “Dirty Little Secrets”. This book reminds me of “Unbelievable” because both books tell the same story. Also they teach the same lesson and have the same theme.

Imagine having the feeling that fills your body with sensational warmth giving you the power to do tricks and abilities such as flying and putting people to sleep at will. When orphan boy Peter sets foot on the lousiest ship in all of England, he finds himself lurching for adventure. When he sees a trunk get loaded onto his ship he gets curious on what is inside it. Talking to his new friend Molly he met on his ship, he learns that she is part of this society called “The Starcatchers”. Peter joins Molly on a quest to keep the trunk away from “The Others” and find out whats inside.
This book reminds me of the book, “Peter Pan” . They are very similar because in both the main character is called Peter and they are both during the time of pirates. They also both include a great deal of magic.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith and Jane Austin

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austin and Seth Grahame-Smith        Review by Anthony L. *****
Everyone believe in some kind of fairytale creature creatures like fairies, dragons, and trolls . . .but zombies? This is the tale of Elizabeth and her sisters who live in a zombie infested London, England and try (try . . .) to be young dainty woman while also being zombie-killing machines. Not only must they fight there way through zombies, ninjas, and other people, the must find the perfect man for them.
This book reminds me of World War Z another zombie book about war, zombies, and depression just as this book has. This book also highlights many themes such as perseverance, love, hate, keeping hope, survival, and responsibilities for your own actions. Not only does this book have very detailed vocabulary it also has very detailed illustrations that can show how gory the scenes can be. I recommend this boom to ANYONE who loves a gory love story.

Suicide Notes by Michael Thomas Ford

Suicide Notes by Michael Thomas Ford
Review by Sasha Helfner *****

What would you do if you woke up in a hospital with two slit wrists? You claim that you didn’t cut yourself, but you are still put in a 45 day program. That is Jeff’s story, but it’s not a simple one. The problem is that Jeff doesn’t even know why he tried to commit suicide. Throughout Jeff’s experience in the hospital, he ventures through his mind about topics that he has never encountered before. He talks about death, life, and other topics are thrown out there as well. You could say that his best friend, Allie, is the antagonist, or it could even be Dr. Cat Poop. Either way, they have an impact on Jeff in the old, crummy hospital for 45 long days.
I liked this book because it gave me a different look at situation. Jeff looks at situations as if they didn’t matter; counted for nothing. Jeff said that when he cut his wrists that the skin bleeding out was like opening a ribbon on a present. This made me learn a different lookout on events. If I were cutting myself, I would be thinking about the pain and ugliness of what I have done. That isn’t what Jeff did. He viewed his action as an exiting activity. Jeff reminds me of Phoebe from “Friends.” This is because they both have different opinions about life. I already mentioned Jeff’s opinion, but Phoebe’s is the opposite. Phoebe thinks that everything that can become a cheerful song, as exampled in her song, “Smelly Cat.” I encourage you to read this book this book not only so that you can figure out what 45 day programs are like, but so that you can see what it’s like to view situations on the dark side.

Think about it, what it would be like if you lived in a world with non-stop emotions and feelings. Also having a soul who has been given Melanie's body, knowing about the challenges of taking it over. The overwhelming emotions, very vivid memories. But there was one problem, Wanderer didn’t know that it would be hard to give Melanie’s body back to her without being possessed. Her life is like a bad nightmare and it never goes away. Melanie loves a man - Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from what her body wants, Wanderer trys so hard for a man she's never met. All those bad things that happen to them on their journey makes them both enemies and they set off to search for the man they both love but also bump into things they have to fight for.

I honestly love this book its amazing . These are the types of books I like to read, mystery books and very vivid books. Most of the books that this author likes to write is mostly about those things and vampires or souls. My opinion is that I think more people should read this book I think a lot of people will like It and enjoy reading it.

This book and the character both remind me of mystery’s and vampire stories. It’s a really dark story and very detailed. The character reminds me of someone who likes to keep their thoughts to themselves and a person who doesn’t like to speak their mind. It also reminds me of someone who would write their thoughts and feelings in a book or journal.

This book was an amazing book and I really think people should read it and see what they think of the book.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days by: Jeff Kinney

A review by: Jake L Stars: *****

The book Dog Days is a great book. This is the best book I read this year because it’s funny long and very detailed. It always keeps you interested and always wants you to know what happens next. The shocking part about the book is the beginning started off slow. It was still pretty funny but I didn’t get why it was called Dog Days. But once they actually got the dog it started to pick up. It actually got funnier as I read along, it got more detailed, and it wanted to keep a coming back into the story. This book actually reminds me of the Spongebob movie because Spongebob reminds me of Greg the main character the one the whole book is based on. Patrick reminds me about Rowely the sidekick and the best friend.

The book is about a boy named Greg Heffely. Who is in the middle of his summer vacation and his dad gets him a dog. The problem is that the dog is very loud and rambunctious. Greg gets easily annoyed by the dog and he needs to figure out how to get rid of it. In my opinion the book is great and if you want a good laugh then read it.

The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan

The Battle of The Labyrinth by Rick Riordan *****
Have you ever thought about the Greek gods? Well what if they were all real: the monsters, the heroes and the gods? What if the gods had half mortal children? What if those children were half gods and fought off monsters on a daily bases? For Percy Jackson all of this is how he lives. He is the son of Poseidon and he fights monsters for a hobby.

Percy and his friends must venture into the deep, dark endless Labyrinth in order to save his beloved camp, Camp Half-blood. Percy must find and stop an army invasion of monsters. This reminds me of The Adventures of Ulysses because they are both about heroic deeds and ancient Greek gods.

Justin Bieber, First Step To Forever: My Story.

Review by: Romina R.
*****

Most celebrities start their dreams because of relatives, or are born into fame.  But no, not every celebrity started this way.  Some people start people start by just following their dreams.  And this is the story, of am kid who had a dream, and really followed that dream.  This is the story of a kid named Justin Bieber; how he had a dream, and how he followed that dream and it all cam true.  In the blink of an eye.  This kid grew up poor in Stratford, Ontario, and he loved to sing.  He would sing, in competitions, and on the street for money.  But it all started when he put videos on YouTube for his family for his family to see, but when music producers started listening to the music, they knew that something big was about to happen.

This is one of my favorite books ever!  I would definitely recommend reading it!!  It tells you to believe, follow your dreams, and NEVER SAY NEVER!!  This book doesn’t remind me of any other book I say this because it is more like his personal diary.  And he is talking to you and giving you advice.  This is a book absolutely everyone would like!!!
