Summer Ball by Mike Lupica

Review by Alexis C.
What if one of your idols laughed at your biggest dream? In Summer  Ball, by Mike Lupica the protagonist, Danny Walker goes to a big-shot basketball camp in Maine, where he faces many problems. At Right Way Camp Danny finds out that he is one of the shortest kids there and that his old long time enemy, Lamar Parrish is put on his team, his coach is also very mean to him. With everyone saying that basketball isn't right for him, Danny has to prove himself to all of his friends, coaches, and most of all his dad who was a former NBA player. At the end Danny learns who his true friends are and what it really means to put your heart into something.
I loved this book. The conflict changed so many times so it was always interesting and leaving me wanting to read more. I also liked it because it had a mix of sports and everyday problems that a thirteen year old would be going through. Summer Ball made me realize that you have to work for something that you love.
