The Skin I'm In


 


Published in 2000,author Sharon G. Flake of a five star book *The Skin I'm In*. This book is about a fourteen year old African-American girl who gets bullied about what she wears and her race her name is Maleeka Madison. Her dad died when she was little, her father would normally carry the heavy loade by working jobs paying the bills and putting food inside of his wife and daughters mouth. Ever since her father died her mother has been upset, for two years Maleeka had to do every thing for literally everything! Maleeka had to feed her brush her mothers teeth. No her mom sews Maleekas clothes. Shes not very good at it! Maleeka hates her moms clothes so she borrows them from her "friend" Char. Char is a bully she makes fun of Maleeka . Soon Maleeka becomes smart and stops hang out with her.

  1. This sounds like a really depressing book. I find it amazing that even if her dad died, she still works through rough times with her mother.

  2. This is a very nice book, I have read it before and it is honestly great because Maleeka at the end believes that she has beauty inside and out witch is very emotional also another thing that's emotional is that her dad died and she only lives with her mom :(
