If you’re interested in reading a book filled with mystery and suspense, you should read Thirteen Reasons Why.
It’s about a girl named Hannah Baker. She is a high school girl who
recently committed suicide. Before she killed herself, she recorded 13
cassette tapes of herself explaining the reasons why she committed
suicide. Each tape is about a different person and what they did to her.
Hannah mailed the tapes to the person who was the first reason why and
sent directions to pass it along to all 13 reasons why. Hannah gave a
second set of the tapes to someone so that if someone didn’t pass the
tapes on, the second set would be released to everyone. The book is
through the eyes of Clay Jenson who is one of the reasons why. He tries
to understand why Hannah killed herself.
I liked this book because it kept me interested because I wanted to know all the reasons why Hannah committed suicide and how Clay is connected. I couldn’t stop reading it. All the tapes and people are connected. Each person and their actions leads to the other. Another reason I liked the book is because it was through the eyes of one of the people who is a reason why so you get to understand how it would feel if you were in his position. I think the theme of the book is to think before you do something because it could cause a spiral of bad things and really hurt someone even if you think it’s no big deal.

Book Review 13 Reasons Why
There were 13 reasons why Hannah Baker killed herself. Clay Jensen is one of them. In the book 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher, Clay Jensen is the protagonist. The book is set in Crestmont, California modern times. One day a mysterious package arrives at Clay’s house and inside there are cassette tapes. When he plays these tapes he hears the voice of a former classmate and crush of Clay’s, Hannah Baker. There is an bit of mystery stirred into the story because Hannah had killed herself a while back. Clay needs to figure out how he is connected to Hannah’s death and how to move on.
I like this book because the sense of mystery and suspense makes a great story. With almost every page in 13 Reasons Why a new secret was revealed that made me even more engaged with the plotline. The factor that kept me most interested was finding out what Clay had to do with Hannah’s death. This book helped me realize that no one will be here forever and that we should value everyday we live. Also that you need to stay positive in life no matter how hard it gets. The authors style of writing is unique and original. 13 Reasons Why shows me this because Hannah killed herself because she got overwhelmed with sadness and didn't know how to cope. Death is not a joke and it effects not just that person but many others in their life as it did with Hannah.
