The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Reviewed by Katherine N.

"My arrow dives deeply into the center of his neck. He falls to his knees and halves the brief remainder of his life by yanking out the arrow and drowning in his own blood." (Page 223 chapter 18) Katniss Everdeen is living in a "world" named Panam. In Panam there was thirteen districts (now only twelve), and living in the near future, in district twelve is Katniss, her sister, Prim, and her mother, and more. When she goes to the “Hunger Games” she has to use her skills in the fight to the death, and survive.
I loved this book because it was so fast paced! The word choice was as well absolutely stunning! I would recommend this book to anyone who loves fast pace action, and suspense. A similar book to this was Divergent. It has a similar story line. What both of these books have in common is their theme. The theme that was really important, was the need to push yourself to the max, try your hardest, or else things won't always work out as easily in the end.

Honorable Mention:
Divergent
Insurgent
Star girl
Catching Fire
Mockingjay
