The Mysterious Benedict Society Trenton Lee Stewart

Review by: Karl E.   *****

Can you imagine having the privilege of being a spy, with the world as we know it resting in your hands? That's what life was like for four children by the names of: Reynie Muldoon, George "sticky" Washington, Constance Contraire, and Kate "the Great Kate Weather Machine" Wetherall. All of these children met at a test in Stonetown to be chosen, and then later traveled to and island off the coast of Stonetown. The reason that they were chosen was because they all had a special ability, whether it was solving puzzles, photographic memory, or having an incredible agility. Reynie is the main character though, and he is honest, loves puzzles, and can think in pressurized situations.

The four chuldren are out to save the world from evil Mr. Curtain, a man sending messages through just about everything that travels through air waves, and says things like: The missing aren't missing, they've only departed" causing people to ignore the disappearances of others they know. The reason he sends messages like this is because he's kidnapping people and taking them to his institute. But how and if they will be able to stop Mr.Curtain is up to you to read!
The reason I enjoyed this book is because the suspense flows off of every page, and there's a lot of emotional changes, like happy to sad, mad to happy, etc. Also it reminded me of how persuasive people can be and that teamwork never fails.
